Let's talk about the importance of having people with diverse opinions in our inner circle. This is an issue that can often be overlooked, but trust me when I say that it has the power to greatly impact our lives and shape the way we see the world. We preach this at nauseam but it's crucial to a better understanding of what it means to be human.
Imagine living in a world where everyone around you thinks and believes exactly like you do. It may seem comfortable and familiar, but the truth is that this can be one of the most dangerous things for our growth and personal development. This is where dissenting opinions are suppressed and group think prevails. But we cannot afford to be trapped in these echo chambers.
We must challenge our beliefs, embrace diversity, and actively seek out individuals who hold different perspectives. By doing so, we open ourselves up to new ways of thinking and broaden our understanding of the world around us.
The rise of social media has made us all robotic and it's only going to show you like minded things. It's designed that way to make it more addictive, if you don't believe us then try it out. Go watch a few videos with puppies and that's all you're going to see. That's seems harmless because who doesn't love puppies. Now take that to a more extreme example, go watch a few videos of your favored political ideations and you'll notice a massive increase in political videos tailored to your desired interest. Sure its comfortable and it feels good because you believe in what you believe and these videos are just confirming what you believe but here's the thing.... where's the growth? Are you learning or just confirming what you want to hear. When this happens all it does is enrage us because it's only giving us the things we want and we can't understand that no matter what side we are on that the other side is wrong. At this point we've turned into the Spiderman meme where everyone is just pointing at each other, except its just a bunch of people who all think their right and have no desire to learn from the others.
We challenge you to embrace the uncomfortable. Encourage open and honest discourse with those who hold different opinions. Surround yourselves with people who will challenge your beliefs, who will push you out of your comfort zone and make you see things from a different angle. We all come from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and have vastly different life experiences. Instead of running from it embrace it and learn from it. Remember, life is too short to play it safe. Let's make the most of every moment and challenge ourselves to learn, grow and evolve.
